DO PRIVATE HOMES REQUIRE LIGHTNING PROTECTION SYSTEM?
Yes, it is recommended to have lightning protection system to protect the building and electrical equipment from being damaged by lightning. Lightning protection system can ensure the safety and prevent losses of human life and damage to electrical equipment due to direct lightning strike.
WHAT TYPE OF HOUSES HAVE HIGHER RISKS OF LIGHTNING STRIKE?
All buildings are subjected to lightning strike. Commonly tall buildings are more prone to be struck by lightning, but it doesn’t mean lower buildings are completely safe from lightning as lightning can strike anywhere. Lightning can also damage electrical equipment in any type of house because lightning will travel through underground cables into your house through your house electricity board and damage your electrical equipment.

DURING THUNDERSTORMS, MY HOUSE INCOMING SWITCHBOARD ALWAYS TRIPS AND CAUSES ME MUCH INCONVENIENCE. HOW TO PREVENT THIS? CAN SURGE ARRESTOR HELP?
Frequent tripping occurring during thunderstorms can be due to nuisance tripping, for example, tripping caused by sudden high voltage, and not because of leakage in your electrical switchboard. For this nuisance tripping happening during thunderstorm, it is recommended to install both Duval surge arrestor and Duval RCCB with auto reset system to reduce inconveniences. Any RCCB in a switchboard will trip if leakage power is detected. Previously we have to manually turn on the RCCB when tripping occurs. Now we have Duval Auto Reset which function by automatically turning on the RCCB when tripping occurs. When there is nobody in the house when tripping occur, the electronic equipment such as refrigerator, aquarium water pump, and others will function normally after installing Duval RCCB with auto reset system
WHAT IS MEANT BY FULL LIGHTNING PROTECTION SYSTEM?
Full lightning protection system is to protect both external and internal parts of the building from a lighting strike. External protection can be done by installing Satelit + G2 ESE lightning conductor and grounding system. While internal protection can be done by installing of Duval Lightning Surge Arrestor

DOES LIGHTNING PROTECTION SYSTEM NEED MAINTENANCE FREQUENTLY?
Duval lightning protection comes with free warranty. However, it is advisable to check your lightning protection system once a year, especially on the grounding system, because the soil resistance level can change after frequent discharge of lightning current.
HOW DO WE PROTECT OUR HOUSES FROM DIRECT LIGHTNING STRIKES?
Installation of Satelit+G2 ESE lightning conductor can protect your building from direct lightning strike. Satelit + G2 ESE lightning conductor functions by capturing the lightning at the highest possible point before it strike and transfer it to ground via the properly installed earthing system.
WHY AFTER INSTALLING OF THE SATELIT + G2 ESE LIGHTNING CONDUCTOR, THE ELECTRIC EQUIPMENT INSIDE MY HOUSE ARE STILL BEING DAMAGED BY LIGHTNING?
Satelit + G2 ESE lightning conductor is installed to protect building structure, roof top and surrounding area. For electric equipment within your house, you need to install suitable models of Duval Lightning Surge Arrestor at the incoming switchboard or at sub switchboard located within your house.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN BY GROUNDING SYSTEM?
When lightning strikes and hits the ground, lightning current will travel underground to enter our building via the incoming cable through the main switchboard and damage our electrical equipment. Grounding system works by transferring the lightning current at the ground to the earth chamber, and then the earth chamber will function to discharge the current. Therefore, it is recommended to check the grounding system once a year due to the soil resistance level.
WHEN LIGHTNING HAPPENS, WHY MY ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT IS ALWAYS DAMAGED BY LIGHTNING?
All type of electronic equipment are subjected to lightning damage if it is not protected by lightning surge arrestor. To protect them from lightning damage, it should be protected with both Duval Powerline surge arrestor at the main incoming switchboard and Duval Dataline surge arrestor to protect the computer, key phone, home theatre, CCTV and etc.
HOW DOES DUVAL SURGE ARRESTOR PROTECT MY ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT?
All electrical equipment usually work within a certain range of voltage, however the electrical equipment will be damaged if it receives high volume of voltage. Therefore, Duval surge arrestor is capable to divert and absorb high sudden surge of energy to the ground and minimize the voltage going through the equipment and hence protecting each electrical equipment.
